Righteousness exalts a nation at proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Commentary notes of Matthew Henry goes this way “Justice reigning in a nation, puts an honour upon it. A rigtheous administration of the government, equity between man and man, public countenance given to a religion, charity and compassion to strangers, uphold the throne, elevate the people’s minds and qualify a nation for the favour of God. Vice in a nation puts disgrace upon it: Sin is a reproach to any city or kingdom. The people of Israel were great when they were good, but when they forsook God all about hem insulted them and trampled them.

Every good citizen prays that his or her nation will be led by a righteous leader that everyone in the said place will really be blessed.

The ways of man as meant at Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man but the
end thereof are the ways of death.
Matthew Henry Commented ” The way of ignorance and carelessness, the way of sensuality and flesh-pleasing, seem right to those who walk in them, much more the way of hypocrisy in religion, external performances, partial reformations and blind zeal; this they imagine will bring them to heaven. They will perish with a lie in their right hand. Self-deceivers will prove in the end self-destroyers.
