Man was created to have seven basic needs. Each of us has a need for dignity, authority, blessing and provision, security, purpose and meaning, freedom and boundary, intimate love and companionship. When we go outside God’s provision to meet these needs, we get into trouble.
Every man has a need to work and gain satisfaction in caring and seeing something come from his efforts. Many of our basic needs are derived from our work; it was one of the first acts God did for man in the Garden of Eden. He gave him responsibility to care for and work the Garden. God knew man needed to be productive. He needed to gain satisfaction from his work.
The danger of this is when we allow our work to be our complete source of purpose and meaning in life. This leads to a performance-based life. A performance-based life says, “As long as I perform in my work, I am acceptable to myself and others.” This is a subtle trap for all of us. It can lead us to become workaholics if we are seeking acceptance through what we do. Sometimes this can be on a subconscious basis.
Our value must be centered in Christ, not in what we do. If we lose our job or our business, this should not devastate us if we are centered in Him. It will certainly create difficulties, but God is the orchestrator of all the events in our lives for His purposes. Even difficult times have purposes.
Today, ask the Lord if you have a proper balance in your work life. Is Christ the central focus? If you work long hours, ask yourself why. You might discover that God may not be the central focus.
The Word of God or the so-called Bible says in Proverbs 19:14 “House and riches are the inheritance of fathers and a prudent wife is from the Lord.” This note is a very challenging to every woman who has a husband and better yet a woman who has a husband and kid or kids. Her prudence can be tested through the presence of these two parties in the family- the husband and kid/kids. Wife is considered as a blessing or a gift from the Lord. In other verse, wife is even valued much more like a favor from the Lord.
The Bible says it also in Proverbs 18:22″whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtained favour of the Lord” Wow! Does every husband realize the fact of this matter? It is very real. Who can imagine a home without a wife or a mother? What will the house look like without this woman in it? Well, I find myself doing something I never did when I was still in the roof of my parent’s house. Being a wife is not simple. It is very complicated. Since the time I stay as a full-time wife and mother, I feel like I am in a hotel and restaurant, learning center, bank and internet cafe everyday at the same time. It is then an inspiration for me to learn that being a wife is actually a blessing from the Lord. In this sense, God is the source of strength of every wife. Matthew Henry commentary on Boasting About Tomorrow has been helping me to understand the message of God at Proverbs 27:1 which goes this way “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thu knowest not what a day may bring forth” (KJV). Sometimes, we tend to depend on what we have now to feel secure about what a day may bring ahead. That means most of the time that we tend to neglect trusting and keeping in touch with the Lord when we are sufficient today.
Well, I like the commentary message of Matthew Henry about boasting on tomorrow as related to the verse Proverbs 27:1. Boast not thyself, no, not of tomorrow, much less of many days or years to come. This does not forbid preparing for tomorrow, but presuming upon tomorrow. We must not put off the great work of conversion, that one thing needful, till tomorrow, as if we were sure of it, but today, while it is called today, hear God’s voice. We know what a day may bring forth, what event maybe in the teeming womb of time. God has wisely kept us in the dark concerning future events, that he may train up up in a dependence upon himself and a continued readiness for every event, Acts i.7.
Proverbs 23:4 “Labour not to be rich, cease from thy own wisdom”
23:5 “Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven” (KJV)
Matthew Henry commentary on riches - Proverbs 23:4-5 Some are given to appetite(v.2) others to covetousness. We must endeavour to live comfortably, and provide for our children and families, but we must not seek great things. Be not of those that will be rich, that design it as their highest end,1 Tim.vi.9. What thous hast, or doest, be master of it, and not a slave to it as those that rise up early, sit up late, and eat the bread of carefulness, and all to be rich. The things of this world are a show, a shadow, a sham upon the soul that trusts to them. Wilt thou do a thing so absurd in itself? What thou, a reasonable creature, wilt thou dote upon shadows? Riches are very uncertain things; they make themselves wings and fly away. The wings they fly away upon are of their own making. They have in themselves the principles of corruption. They go irresistibly and irrecoverably, as an eagle towards heaven, that flies strongly, and flies out of sight and out of call (there is no bringing her back); thus do riches leave men in grief and vexation if they set their hearts upon them.
The role of the church is not to be ignored these days. The church composed of group of people believing in the Lord Jesus Christ and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ has a great responsibility in the whole world today. Looking at what happened to Haiti recently, believers are but expected to be commissioned to do rescue effort.
The church will not stop working out as it sees people dying without Jesus Christ. The role of the church has to be carried out as it is expected to bring hope, salvation, education and relief to desperate people around the globe. It is time for the church to carry on the truth and power of the Lord and save the world.

The WORD. A phrase that is very powerful to boggle one’s mind if he or she does not understand what does it mean. It remains a mind-boggling issue if you will not continue going through this page. The world is getting surprisingly worst and THE WORD is getting more amazingly real in everyone’s life and in every country’s condition. In the bible, we can read that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The Word became flesh - that is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Read Him more.
